Laser cutting & engraving

ssLASER

Runs on the SS4544 with either a NETPAN or PANP control panel and the ssLASER Windows print driver. You literally print your laser job out of a Windows application, in mixed vector, raster and 8-bit greyscale — rubber stamps included.

Mechanical cutting & engraving with CAD/CAM

ssROUTER

Runs on the SS4544 with the HANDPAN handheld pendant and the TestraMW Windows CAD/CAM/CUT program. Design in any Windows environment, CAM the design, then send the job to the controller to run standalone from the pendant. Imports DXF.

Full G-code interpretation

ssCNC

The straight CNC package: the SS4544 four-axis stepper motor control system driven by the ssCNC program for full G-code interpretation. If your toolpaths already come out of a CAM package, start here.

ssLASER.drv

The Windows print driver does the hard part.

Draw the job in Corel Draw or any Windows drawing program. Colour is the interface: each of eight drawing colours carries its own cutting or rastering settings, so one drawing describes the whole job.

Code lines and raster images by colour — each of eight drawing colours carries its own power, speed and pulse density
Cut to controlled depths by setting a minimum line width and a colour
Gas assist control, plus a user-defined auxiliary function per colour
Automatically turn the exhaust venting system on and off
Rotary fixture support — wraps the drawing around an object of a specified diameter
Work in either English or metric units
Save driver settings to setup files and recall them per job type

For example: in Corel Draw, draw a widget to be cut out of a plastic sheet with your logo and phone number on it. Colour-code the logo so the driver rasters it with the right properties. Set a minimum line width and colour on the cutting outline to say that line is a cut, and at what speed and power. Print the drawing to ssLASER, and the object is fabricated on your machine.
